BitGreen Protocol version two (current)
The following rewards schedule came into effect in November 2019, upon the launch of the upgraded BitGreen Protocol (version 2). This significant upgrade moved away from a PIVX-derived blockchain to a proprietary chain based on a proof of stake-purposed fork of Bitcoin Core. It has set the groundwork for a modern implementation of blockchain best practice and features such as segwit and deterministic masternodes.
Note the block time was increased to 120 seconds during the transition to the upgraded protocol. A 60 second block time resulted in an unnecessarily high staking yield and so a higher block time has been determined as the most sustainable way forward. This means a longer distribution timeline for all BITG into circulation, and a more steady longer term road to increased adoption.
Start block | Ending block | Block reward (BITG) | Date reached |
---|---|---|---|
0 | 10,000 | (Token distribution period) | |
10,001 | 15,000 | 0 (Fair launch) | |
15,001 | 175,000 | 10 | |
175,001 | 700,000 | 5 | |
700,001 | 1,225,000 | 2.5 |
Reward halving occurs every 525,000 blocks until max supply reached.
BitGreen Protocol version one
The following rewards schedule was in place from the inception of the project in January 2018 until September 2019, concluding at block 870,000 and transitioning to the new chain with a seamless and reliable programmatic swap for the security and convenience of the community. It was superseded by version two of the protocol that is a result a strategic and uniquely developed Proof of Stake fork from Bitcoin Core, moving away from the previous PIVX-based implementation.
Start block | Ending block | Block reward (BITG) | Date reached |
---|---|---|---|
0 | 200 | (Premine) | |
201 | 5,000 | 1 | |
5,001 | 25,000 | 30 | |
25,001 | 100,000 | 20 | |
100,001 | 1,050,000 | 10 |
Reward halving occurs every 1,050,000 blocks until max supply reached.
Note that the block time was 60 seconds during this phase.
